How To Sample

A successful sample consists of 2 cups of soil. For lawns, using a spade, first make a V-shaped cut in the ground. Then remove a 1-inch slice from the middle of this section for your soil sample. For gardens and beds, use a hand trowel to take your samples. (read more below)

Preparing Your Sample For Testing

1. Take samples from multiple locations in your lawn or garden. Thoroughly mix the soil in a clean plastic container.
2. Fill and seal the plastic bag found inside the test kit. For successful testing include at least 2 cups of soil.
3. Complete the information on this plastic bag.
4. Affix first class postage and mail.
